The recent release of Me Solta by Nego do Borel has provoked many discussions about authenticity, pink money and the latest LGBTQ+ scene. Quebrada Queer, as previously mentioned, are shaking up the hip hop scene. The success of acts such as Pabllo Vittar and Liniker & Os Caramelows has brought the attention of the mainstream, most of it positive, although let’s not forget that Brazil also has some of Latin America’s highest rates of violence against gay and transgender people.

The track features Maju Shanii with DJ Carlos Lins, written by Rian Guimarães. The video recorded at Vila Emater, a space where the old Maceió rubbish dump was located, gives voice and space to people in the local community who survive from recycling garbage.

And finally, one of the more experimental of the lot. Laricado by Getúlio Abelha is the first track from his Corta Fogo project, where he mixes memories of his childhood in Piauí, with musical references ranging from Calcinha Preta, Banda Calypso to M.I.A and Britney Spears.
